Godzilla Destroy All Monsters Melee Remastered Builds

There are no equipment loadouts. A “build” here means a planned kit: which attacks you spend energy on, when you hold a beam, and which stage you pick in versus. The 2002 engine punishes people who treat every monster like Godzilla. Use this page as a role sheet next to the tier list and matchup chart.

Balanced Godzilla build

Heisei Godzilla: tap fireballs to stop approach, hold breath when they jump, grab after a blocked fierce. Rage shockwave is for crowded melee, not a panic mashing button. Godzilla 2000 uses the same skeleton with greedier pressure. If you empty the energy bar on beams, you lose the grab confirm that actually wins Adventure. Read combat before you hold R1 for ten seconds because it looks cinematic.

Edged knives

Gigan and Destoroyah want to be the ones hitting, not the ones blocking. Their edged property chews through monsters that only packed blunt punches. Do not play them as snipers. Close the gap with a run (L2 plus stick in the modern layout), mix kick and fierce, and save the beam as a whiff punish. Against Anguirus, stop throwing yourself at the carapace and wait for a missed grab.

Air kings

King Ghidorah, Mecha-King Ghidorah, and Rodan win when the camera is high and the city is wide. San Francisco waterfront and Seattle reward them. Monster Island lava does not. A flyer build is: stay airborne, peck with projectiles, land only for a grab or a power-up. If military units spawn, you probably wrecked too much while flying and now tanks will snipe you. The Destruction guide explains that aggro. Rodan players should drill anti-air answers on the controls page because everyone will hold beam the moment you take off.

Grappler and gunner

Anguirus lives on armor and throws. Walk people into corners of Tokyo alleys. Megalon is a hopping midrange starter — drill, hop, drill. Showa Mechagodzilla and Kiryu are gunner builds: tap shots to snipe flyers, held beam to lock a lane, almost never jump into Gigan. Orga’s build is bait projectile, absorb, then become the heavy. If the opponent stops shooting, Orga has to learn punches like everyone else.

Stage choice is part of the build

• Grapplers: Tokyo slices, Osaka castle, London industrial.
• Flyers: San Francisco east, Seattle full, Los Angeles airport.
• Gunners: long avenues, not Monster Island fog.
• Destruction specialists: any dense downtown. See Destruction Mode.
