Release Date & Platforms
Godzilla: Destroy All Monsters Melee Remastered launches worldwide on November 3, 2026 — Godzilla Day — across current-generation platforms.
Developed by Pipeworks Studios and published by Atari in partnership with Toho International, this Unreal Engine 5 remake modernizes the beloved 2002 GameCube/Xbox cult classic with 4K visuals, online multiplayer, and a redesigned unlock system.
Digital editions are priced at $29.99 USD. Physical editions are available for PlayStation 5 ($29.99) and Nintendo Switch 2 ($39.99). Pre-orders are live on the Atari store and platform storefronts.
The remaster targets 99% mechanical fidelity with the original, meaning core combat, monster movesets, and environmental destruction largely carry over — but progression, visuals, and multiplayer have been significantly upgraded.

About the Game
Godzilla: Destroy All Monsters Melee Remastered is a 3D arena fighter where iconic kaiju battle across fully destructible cities.
The Vortaak aliens have seized control of Earth's most powerful monsters and unleashed them on cities worldwide. One monster breaks free from mind control on Monster Island and fights through the entire roster to confront the Vortaak's ultimate weapon aboard their Mothership.
Choose from 12 kaiju — each with unique melee combos, projectile attacks, Rage Mode specials, and environmental interactions like grabbing and throwing skyscrapers. Battle across 8 locations with day and night variants, including Tokyo, San Francisco, Monster Island, and the alien Mothership.
New for the remaster: online matchmaking for Versus and Melee modes, a currency-based unlock system that lets you unlock monsters, stages, and gallery items in any order, per-kaiju single-player campaigns, and remastered cinematic visuals rebuilt from the ground up in UE5.

Adventure Mode
The primary single-player campaign. Fight through a sequence of opponents across different cities, culminating in a boss battle aboard the Vortaak Mothership. Each kaiju has an additional dedicated campaign in the remaster.
Destruction Mode
Compete to cause the most structural damage within a time limit. Destroy buildings, vehicles, and landmarks for points. Perfect for learning map layouts and monster reach.
Melee Mode
Free-for-all or team battles for 2–4 players locally. Monsters respawn on death; highest score wins. Now supports online matchmaking in the remaster.
Survival Mode
Defeat as many consecutive opponents as possible with a single health bar. Test your mastery of one monster against the entire roster.
Team Battle
Divide players into teams for cooperative kaiju combat. Coordinate special abilities and environmental attacks with allies.
Versus (Online)
New to the remaster — 1v1 online battles with matchmaking. Supports both ranked-style competitive play and casual sessions with friends.

There is no official tier list from Atari or Pipeworks. This pre-release ranking is based on community consensus from the 2002 original, competitive Melee scene analysis, and expected remaster balance.
This tier list is a community reference, not an official ranking. Balance may change in the remaster's currency unlock system and online meta. We will update rankings after launch based on real match data.
Maps & Stages

Tokyo
Day / NightDense urban skyline with destructible skyscrapers and narrow alleys. Iconic Godzilla battleground.

New York
Day / NightClassic Manhattan-style grid with tall buildings. Military forces deploy heavily here.

Items & Power-Ups

Health Power-Up
Restores a portion of your monster's health bar. Critical in Survival Mode and long Adventure battles.
Energy Power-Up
Refills your energy meter for beam weapons and breath attacks. Essential for ranged-focused kaiju like Mechagodzilla and King Ghidorah.
Mothra Power-Up
Summons Mothra to fly across the stage, damaging all monsters in her path. Can disrupt clustered fights in Melee mode.
Freeze Tank Power-Up
Deploys a military freeze tank that immobilizes monsters temporarily. Can be turned off via cheat code in the original.
Wire Frame Power-Up
Renders your monster as a wireframe, making you harder to hit. Niche but useful for evasion.
Invisible Power-Up
Makes your monster invisible for a short duration. Strong in free-for-all Melee when combined with ambush tactics.
Unlock System & Progression
The remaster replaces the original's rigid Adventure Mode chain unlocks with a flexible currency-based system.
In the 2002 original, you had to beat Adventure Mode with specific monsters in a specific order to unlock the next character. The remaster lets you earn currency through any game mode and spend it to unlock monsters, stages, and gallery items in any order you choose.
Gallery items include concept art, character bios, and cinematic stills. All unlockables can be purchased with earned currency — no mandatory progression path.
Below is the original 2002 unlock chain for reference. These conditions likely will NOT apply in the remaster, but help you understand the roster relationships.
| Monster | Original 2002 Unlock Condition |
|---|---|
| Godzilla 2000 | Beat Adventure with Godzilla 90's |
| Gigan | Beat Adventure with Anguirus |
| King Ghidorah | Beat Adventure with Megalon |
| Destoroyah | Beat Adventure with Godzilla 2000 |
| Rodan | Beat Adventure with Gigan |
| Mecha-King Ghidorah | Beat Adventure with King Ghidorah |
| Mechagodzilla | Beat Adventure with Destoroyah, Rodan, and Mecha-King Ghidorah |
| Orga | Beat Adventure with Mechagodzilla (Xbox only in original) |
Codes & Cheats
The 2002 original featured an extensive cheat code system entered at the main menu. Whether these codes carry over to the remaster has not been confirmed by Atari or Pipeworks.
Original input method: Press and hold L, B, R (GameCube) in that order, then release in the order B, R, L. Use the D-pad to select digits and confirm each with A. Enter a 6-digit code.
These codes are from the 2002 GameCube/Xbox version. The remaster may use a different cheat system or remove cheats entirely. We will verify and update after launch.
